how we make our jewelry

A piece of jewelry begins long before the metal is touched.

Every piece by Luz de Nehca begins with an idea, a question, or a story.

Then come the research, the sketches, the tests, the materials, and the hands that, little by little, turn it into something you can carry with you.

IT ALL STARTS WITH A QUESTION

Before drawing, I need to understand.

A collection can begin with an emotion, a symbol, a story, or simply a question that sparks my curiosity.

I research, read, observe, and experiment until I find what I truly want to convey.

Because for me, a piece of jewelry doesn't start by looking for a pretty shape. It starts by finding a reason to exist.

DESIGN

FROM IDEA TO FORM

The idea begins to become tangible.

Then come the drawings, the proportions, the initial tests, and the prototypes.

Some ideas work immediately. Others need to change, be simplified, or start over.

The design is finished when the form manages to express what it intended to convey from the beginning.

DO

A JEWEL NEEDS MORE THAN JUST HANDS.

When design finds its form, another part of the process begins.

The idea passes into the hands of our master jewelers in Spain, who combine experience, craftsmanship, and traditional techniques to transform it into metal.

Design and craftsmanship work together to reach the final piece.

One idea. Four hands. A single jewel.

A CENTURIES-OLD TECHNIQUE

FROM WAX TO METAL

Many of our jewels are made using lost-wax casting, a traditional technique that allows a wax model to be transformed into a metal piece.

A mold is created from the model, and through successive casting phases, the space occupied by the wax ends up being occupied by the metal.

Then the jewelry work begins: cleaning, adjusting, soldering, polishing, and finishing each piece.

IT MATTERS WHAT WE DO. AND HOW WE DO IT, TOO.

THE MATERIAL

To know is to know where it comes from.

We work with responsibly sourced, recycled, or certified silver depending on the piece, and we select materials with an eye not only to their beauty, but also to their origin and longevity.

HANDS

Craftsmanship leaves its mark.

Each piece of jewelry passes through hands that cut, solder, adjust, sand, and polish. That is why there may be slight differences between pieces: they are part of a process in which people are still involved.

CLOSENESS

Designed by Luz Rodríguez. Made in Spain.

We work with artisans and master jewelers in Spain, especially in Córdoba, maintaining a close relationship with those who turn our designs into metal.

Materials we know. Hands we know. Places we know.

AND FINALLY, A GEM.

When it reaches your hands, the process seems to have ended.

For us, another part of its story begins.

The one you write when you decide to wear it.
